ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

PDBS is committed to the Environment in the way that we can influence the Built Environment as part of a design team and in carrying out our functions as Consulting Civil / Structural Engineers. PDBS Management shall implement Environmental Management System (EMS) that meets the requirements of the ISO 14001:2015 standard. We are conscious that, as Consultant we can influence decisions made that may aect the environment in the short, medium and long term. Our influence will vary depending on the aspect of the project being considered. Typically, subject to client requirements and cost considerations, we can bring a huge influence to bear on items such as:

  • Raise awareness amongst owners, occupiers and contractors of the benefits of adopting environmentally intrinsic design approach.
  • Adopt and enhance BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) approach in design.
  • Design in compliance with applicable National and International legislations.
  • Provide full assistance to our clients in selection of Environmentally friendly construction material.
  • Guide and assist clients in Dispose of construction waste.
  • Site selection and location of development within site, road access and networks
  • Traffic Impact Assessment and Mobility Management.
  • Provide assistance and guidance in Design of appropriate waste water system.
  • As proactive members of a design team, PDBS engage in the decision-making process that affects the overall building envelope such as ground source heating and cooling, energy efficient mechanical and electrical systems, air tightness, thermal mass, glazing systems etc. which may significantly effect the structural solution.
  • Guide and assist owners in selection of contractors that have good work experience with reference to environmentally friendly manner
  • Avoid / minimize use of Hazardous Chemicals at construction site
  • Select good quality construction material that won’t produce Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) to the occupants
  • Promote sustainable development and use of recycled material.
  • Promote and advise use of low embodied energy materials such as reinforced concrete, natural stone, concrete blockwork and precast concrete.
  • Enhance use of excavated clay materials with the addition of lime (lime stabilization) for building up site levels and keeping excavated material on site, thereby reducing the quantity of imported fill and minimizing the amount of material transported o site.
  • Promote On-site crushing of excavated rock to be used beneath roads, hard standings and backll.
  • Perform Client Satisfaction Survey to enhance performance and formulate future path.
